Drive By-s

This is often the easiest way to look for a home. You may have decided on where you would like to move. It is always a good idea to drive through the neighborhood and see what homes are for sale. You can bring your agent or broker with you so he or she gets a good idea on where you wish to move to and what type of property you are looking to purchase. Most “For Sale” signs will have realtor information and contact information. Bring a pen and paper so you can jot these down as your agent can schedule appointments for viewing the property. You may also see “For Sale by Owner” signs. Buying one of these homes may save on any buyer’s agent commission, which is normally 6% but is usually negotiable. This could save on closing fees so jot the contact numbers down. Many of these homes will have what is called an “open house” where the public (hopefully potential buyers) gets to look the house over during a specified time, usually during the weekend. You may though have to set up an appointment to view the house so jot those numbers down nonetheless.
